It is now the turn of Silverfall to attempt to take up the reigns, to oust games like Neverwinter Nights 2 and it’s on stiff competition. In the industry rife with clones and other fantasy genres all rattling the sabre on your attention, is game merit anything but a simple play.

In the beginning Silverfall reminded me a little of Dungeon Siege that is certainly not a bad thing, since I’m quite attached to the game. You begin the fairly generic story using a decently robust tutorial; it shows you the basics in the game and allows you to cut loose by incorporating powers because Archmage of the doomed Capital of scotland - Silverfall, against a panic attack by vicious creatures.

You are able to customise and make your own character however, choosing from elves, goblins, humans and trolls - each with sliders to switch their appearance and skin. While you play the game in the starting area, the Swamp, you’ll handle quests and sub-quests following either the road of nature or technology.

It’s here that Silverfall diverts into something other than the mediocre fantasy, the struggle between both of these opposing forces is something that actually comes through on the globe itself and finally your city. It'll change because you do, because you begin to follow nature or technology, your weapon choices and various elements of the town are going to alter.

You've got various skills and powers which can be divided up between nature and technology, as you follow the path innovative skills and powers become available. It’s nothing we haven’t seen before but it’s implemented contained in the story in lieu of just a gameplay mechanic which is something very good.
