The game is often a mission-based foray in the legendary time in the event the throne of England was usurped with a corrupt brother with his fantastic evil henchman, the Sheriff of Nottingham. Robin arrives where you can find himself proclaimed a victim from the Crusades, his land stolen and those who would stand up to the injustice labeled criminals and hunted as such. His first task is to locate an old friend (Lord Godwin), who's disappeared thus sending Robin with a journey toward Sherwood Forest.

Because Duke Leopold has Richard the Lion-hearted hostage, and is also demanding a massive ransom, the Sheriff with his fantastic cronies have levied heavy taxes against an impoverished nation. Gathering men of courage by his side, it is up to Robin to view that all is placed right.

The overall game does an incredibly nice job of keeping a dark tone of the times, and marching steadfastly down the timeline a large number of know so well. But just as important, this program does a good job utilizing the skills and derry-do often for this time-honored tale.

In to the courtyards of Nottingham, Robin must free those men (including Stuteley, a master craftsman effective at building traps) planning to face the gallows. With his sword, bow and courage, he wades from the soldiers, cuts the ropes or releases the stocks and together, the band begins to constitute the basis of the “merry men.” But once in Nottingham, the best way out is fraught with danger. Soldiers line the best way, archers, pikes and swords dance inside the glare of the sun to deny Robin and the plucky band.

In many regards, this is the grand, albeit linear, adventure. You can’t leave the easy way; you must fight your path to freedom. Often, you should explore the towns you're in. The gates are drawn, but somewhere lays the switch which will lower them.
