Why don't we get the most important thing out the way first: Shift is well the top NFS title in a long time, possibly even the top ever. There is no doubt that EA and Slightly Mad have formulated a game title that will please countless racing fans around the globe understanding that this is the new beginning for your franchise. If you need a serious racer, complete with some good cars and tracks, along with the best in-car view outside real life, look no further than Shift. On that front all relevant parties must be congratulated and given a hearty pat about the back. But we'd still love to ask some serious questions regarding a few of the design choices.

Shift includes a fairly traditional career structure. Events are split up into four tiers, using a fifth - World Tour - being the Ultimate goal that Shift drivers wish to compete in. Inside each tier can be a compilation of events (race, time trial, head to head, endurance, eliminator and drift), each having a variety of stars and cash up for grabs, and also becoming an chance to earn points which go towards your overall driver rank. At first means that a tad confusing. Stars, earned for podium position, points earned and having set goals, go towards unlocking new events and tiers. You'll move from tier one to two rapidly, but from then on you'll want to work in lots of events so that you can progress.
