Zombie Tycoon 2: Brainhov's Revenge is actually a sort-of-cute, vaguely-horrific and highly-streamlined real-time strategy game that wraps you within the lab coat of Orville Tycoon, a lab assistant who betrayed his mentor, Dr. Archibald Brainhov, stole his zombie-making formula and set off to conquer the globe with hordes of subservient undead.

But as you may surmise in the title, Brainhov isn't likely to endure this sort of guffola without a fight, so it's Shamblers vs. Ferals (vs. police, the army, some mutant monsters and a lot of hillbillies) in a all-out battle for supremacy.Knowledge of the original Zombie Tycoon (which, for that record, I don't have) is handy for understanding certain points in regards to the sequel, like why Dr. Brainhov is really a zombie and what Orville did to produce him so angry. But when you can find a way to avoid getting too hung through to the finer points from the plot - and trust me, that shouldn't be considered a problem - then Zombie Tycoon 2 works perfectly well on its own. Essentially, it boils down to this: There's a zombie holocaust, it's your fault, and today it's time to dig into the buffet o' brains.As a real-time strategy game, Zombie Tycoon 2 is very simplified. You control a maximum of two squads of zombies, including a unique monster along with a zombie-making mastermind; first Tycoon, then midway with the game, Brainhov. Each squad has five zombies, which can be replenished automatically as needed, there are actually no resources to recover or buildings to place and rather than two factions fighting across a battlefield, each mission is founded on accomplishing a specific and incredibly linear group of objectives.

That's not to say there isn't plenty to accomplish. As you may move from the devastated streets of Finkleville, you are able to capture hardware stores, martial arts theaters, sports centers and other buildings that will help you to convert your zombies into better units with special abilities, like zombie engineers that can operate machinery or zombie scouts, who travel undetected and regain health when not moving by burrowing in the ground. (They also work as a good homage to another one, rather more famous game about zombies.)
