Its depth is immediately apparent as you start by creating any character that suits you, beginning with a race (like the battle-ready Redguard, the bow-and-arrow expertise of the High Elf, or even the innate stealthy traits in the catlike Khajiit). Soon you'll select a class, maybe it's a warrior, wizard, thief or any custom combination you'd choose to conjure, and then you'll select your birth sign (read: special ability).

When you have escaped the initial dungeon - an essential but not overly drawn-out rat-killing trek during which the game instructs yourself the basics of blocking, spell casting, sneaking plus more - the hand-holding eases and you are free to roam the fantastic outdoors. It is possible to seek out the heir for the vacant throne with the land and quash the hell-spawned threat that can destroy the world. And with just a cursory glance, you'll notice that it's a world very much worth saving.
